Data Leaders Academy – Bringing Data to Life

post2.png

The Data Leaders Academy series is built to help people in nonprofit organizations in Central Texas apply data-driven insights to make their programs more effective and scale impact for the people they serve.Over nine months, the Good Measure team works with a cohort of representatives from Central Texas nonprofits to deepen leadership skills and providing the knowledge, tools, and resources to collect and analyze program-level data. The 2018 series is devoted to professionals working in youth-serving organizations. All programs involved are working directly with students enrolled in Austin’s Independent School District (AISD). Twenty representatives of nonprofit organizations are involved, at no cost to the organization.Highlights of the 2018 series so far include:

  • A presentation from Noah Schechtman, Director of Evaluation for More Than Words in Boston. Noah helped our Central Texas organizations learn best practices for getting and sharing data with the youth they serve

  • A review of Good Measure’s “Guiding Principles for Data & Learning Champions.” We believe that participants should be key voices in the development of principles that apply to other nonprofit professionals seeking new and better ways to utilize data

  • A planned field trip to Baker Ripley to learn how a strong data utilization culture can support ongoing learning and program improvement

  • An in-depth workshop on crafting effective logic models and using them to help plan an evaluation

  • Live demonstrations from AISD on how to access data and run reports to use in the evaluations of programs

The Data Leaders Academy is one of the Good Measure programs designed to promote best practices regarding building and sustaining an organizational culture that commits to using data to inform programmatic decision-making. Find all our upcoming events here.
